Gone are the days ...

So, Mikaela is 2 years and 8 months old. She still sleeps in her crib and until last night, had never tried to get out of it! Well, after Mike put her in bed and got in the shower last night, Haley came out and said, "Guess what! Mikaela came in and said hi to me, and I asked her if you or daddy got her down and she said no, I did it!" I was like, oh dear! She finally climbed out of her crib. We saw it coming. She turned her light on the other day by standing on her blankets and stuffed animals. We knew it was only a matter of time! Well, when she woke up this morning, she didn't call me like usual. She simply climbed out of her crib and came out to find me! So, gone are the days of crib sleeping for Mikaela!! Time to convert her crib to a toddler bed. I know, I know. I can't believe she lasted this long! It just seems so sad that my baby is growing up. I guess it's a good thing with 2 more babies on the way though!

On the subject of the babies and Mikaela, I just have to say she is so cute about them! Last night when she was giving hugs and kisses before bed, she had to come back to me and kiss and hug the babies goodnight. ♥ She is so excited about the babies! She is always bringing me my doppler and asking if we can listen for the heartbeats. She just LOVES babies. I hope the excitement lasts once they are here! :)

P.S. Mike converted Mickey's crib to a toddler bed! She loves her new big girl bed. She is doing pretty good with it - only got up twice the first night! *sniff* I still can't believe my baby is going to be 3 soon!!!!!

  1. Hello there;

    I've just found your blog after tracking back several steps. I started when I Googled premature birth and speech delays, followed it to a book on amazon.com about premature birth stories and your review of that, to the preemieplace.org (which no longer is active, lol), to your name associated with preemieplace.org, to your multiple blogs ... to the one with a recent entry.

    Hello!

    I haven't had a chance to read through your posts yet, but I'm very interested to do so. My little girl was 25 weeks (1 pound, 7 ounces). She's the sweetest miracle, beautiful and compassionate. She was born at the end of October 2007, due early February 2008, after I developed severe pre-ecclampsia without warning. I'm talking nothing to dying in a week's time.

    She's perfect, though (as you'd guess from my Google search) dealing with expressive speech delays. It's killing me. I still feel completely responsible somehow for her early birth, though I don't know how. But there must be a reason.

    ANYway:) I'm assuming you're reading this, lol. I've come to understand preemie families speak similar languages, so I'm sure you'll forgive my babbling.

    I wrote my own blog about my girl at anklerolls.blogspot.com. I don't update that blog any more, but the preemie issues still hide among the rest of my life, so I still write about them *with* the rest of my life, at theelephantandthebutterfly.blogspot.com

    All right. I'm off to read about your experiences. THANK YOU!
