A Bad Day

Today was not a great day.  I was extremely irritable today and everything was making me angry, and for some reason, I just couldn't seem to get myself in check today!  I don't have much to say for myself - I was mean and ugly and definitely not mother of the year today.  :-(

But let me tell you something, as much as Mickey drove me absolutely insane today and made me want to pull my hair out, she is so DARN CUTE!  She chose bologna and chocolate milk (gag!) for her snack before bed, which she proceeded to eat while wearing an old pair of my sunglasses.  LOL  She makes me laugh so much - she has quite the personality!  If I could just learn not to let her push my buttons.  I think I need to really work on finishing reading my book, "Scream Free Parenting" after today!

Lemme tell you a little secret about myself.  I LOVE cilantro.  Like really, REALLY LOVE IT!  I decided to make a trip to the store to get the stuff to make one of my favorite dinners, Taco Salad since I had such a bad day.  The kids love it too.  I love to put a TON of cilantro on mine!  The smell of cilantro just makes me smile.  I think I am borderline obsessive about cilantro.  LOL  Here is mine from tonight.  Just looking at this picture makes me smile!  hehe

Let's hope we have a better day tomorrow!

Rainy, Gloomy Day

Today was a rainy, gloomy kind of day.  No going out of the house for us!  So today was spent just doing the regular cleaning stuff for the most part.  I did Level 2 of the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred for the first time today and felt like I was going to DIE!  LOL  But, it sure feels great to be working out.  It really does make me feel so much better.  I am also trying to be a LOT better about feeding Carly and Callie baby food.  I was always so good with my other kids, but I have not been great about it with these 2.  It's just a lot harder to synchronize, but I can totally do it and just need to.  I'm going to be a lot better.  Here they were after lunch today!

Then, as I took that picture, I realized how out of order my kitchen was and decided to take care of that right away!  Looks MUCH better now.  If only a clean kitchen would stay clean!!

Ugh.  Oh how I can't wait for the day when we can afford to update our kitchen!  The cabinets are so ugly.  We are planning on painting them white whenever Mike can take some time off work to dedicate to getting it done in a week.  Until then, GAG!  It could be worse though.  :-)

We had a very yummy dinner tonight!  Blackened Tuna steaks, grilled vegetable skewers and saffron rice!  Oh man, oh man!  It was heavenly!  Mike knows how to cook the tuna steaks perfecto!

Mickey and the Burpee Garden Starter Kit

Can I just say that most of my day was filled with Mickey driving me BONKERS about the Burpee Garden Starting Kit she got at Home Depot with her daddy last night!  Since I was coming down with a Migraine, after dinner Mike took Mickey to run some errands at BJ's and Home Depot.  While they were at Home Depot, she helped Daddy pick out a Burpee Garden Starting Kit so we can get our vegetable garden started this year.  It was after 10pm when they got home last night, so she had to get straight to getting ready for bed.  First thing this morning, she couldn't stop talking about wanting to plant her seeds!!!  It's was ALL she talked about ALL DAY LONG!!!  She wouldn't stop talking about it so much, that we actually called Daddy at work so she could talk to him and have him tell her that they would do it as soon as he got home from work tonight, and that he would call her when he was on his way!  That worked for about an hour, MAYBE!  Then it was right back to driving me bonkers and saying it had been "days and days" since she talked to Daddy and wondered what was taking him so long?  LOL  It must be hard to be 3 sometimes!  ;-)

In between being badgered about when Daddy would be home, I did some daily cleaning as well as my project for the day, cleaning out the fridge!  Wednesday is trash day, so I am going to make it part of my weekly schedule to clean the fridge out on Tuesdays.  There have been times that some pretty nasty stuff has grown in my leftover tupperwares that were forgotten about!  o_O  YUCK!  This will prevent that from happening anymore.  So, I cleaned out all the old leftovers and expired foods, wiped down the shelves and reorganized everything to be where I like it.  :-)

Mickey found a few things to keep herself occupied other than asking me every 5 minutes when Daddy was going to be home.  She found her old sunglasses and tried them on Callie ...

(crappy cell phone pic!)
And she found a game to play with Callie, spinning her round and round in her exersaucer!  Callie thought it was great fun!

Once Daddy called to say he was on his way to work out at the gym and would be headed home after, we got the starter kit ready to go.  Just waiting on Daddy now!  :-)

I think Mickey had a great time helping us plant the seeds for our starter garden!  It was a lot more hassle letting her help, but she was so happy!  That makes us happy, even if she can be so very frustrating at times!  ;-)

With all that said, the BEST part of my day was an early morning phone call from my best friend, Kelly!!!!  Her daughter, Kylie, and Haley are best friends as well - have been since they were babies!  Well, they live in Florida now and we haven't seen them for almost 2 years.  Turns out her husband is being sent to Alexandria, Virginia for work, so we will get to see them in like 10 days!!!!!  They will be here April 8!  I absolutely CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!  I don't know how I will contain my excitement waiting for the next 10 days!  One thing I do know, I will NOT be telling Mickey or she will drive me BoNkErS about that for the next 10 days! hehe

9 Month Checkup

First off, can we just pretend it's not Monday and therefore not weigh day?  o_O  The scale said 178 this morning.  Pretty much back to square one.  I am not super shocked though - I started off great with the working out last week, then lost my mojo midweek.  Then on top of that, I cheated hardcore Saturday night with the JUMBO margarita, chips and salsa and Mexican food and then wasn't so great on Sunday about eating either.  I am just not going to let it discourage me and try to get back on track FOR REAL this week!  Starting with going to the Y today.  I was supposed to meet my friend for a class, but she didn't show up.  So ended up just doing my favorite elliptical type machine and burned 324 calories in 25 minutes!  :-)  The class was at 6:20, and wouldn't you know at 5:35 BOTH Carly and Callie were still sleeping from their nap that started around 4:20ish.   Darn Murphy's Law - the kids always sleep forever when you plan to go somewhere!  I had to walk into 2 babies that were sleeping this peacefully, and wake them up ...

This afternoon was Carly and Callie's 9 month checkup.  They are doing awesome!  Carly is 17lbs 9oz, 26.5 inches and Callie is 20lbs 1oz, 26 inches.  They are doing amazing, and like I have said before, you would never know these 2 were preemies to look at them!  :-P

I now have the startings of a migraine - lately I always get visual disturbances just before.  Still need to make that doctor appointment to get my migraine meds!  So I took some Tylenol (even though I know it won't help) and am going to TRY to relax and hope it doesn't come on too strong.

9 Months Old ♥

I can hardly even believe it.  My little babies are 9 months old today.  I swear it seems like only yesterday we were driving frantically to the hospital when they were on their way!  To celebrate the day, Callie cut her very first tooth!  This is the earliest any of my kids have gotten a tooth.  Haley was 13 months and Mickey was 18 months!!!  I hope the rest of her teeth are a little easier for her - sh has been miserable this last week.  I just can't get over how big they are.  Sigh.  It's fun, but it makes me sad to see my last babies growing up so fast!  Here I am with my BIG BABIES today!

After a morning and early afternoon of doing tons of laundry and cleaning up around the house, we went to our friends Nick and Juliane's house.  They have 3 boys, Caio, Brendan and Gabriel.  Mickey always loves to go over and play with them, and now Carly and Callie are getting big enough to get in on the action!  Callie, the spunky little thing she is, gets right in there with them!  She is trying to get the balls from the boys and steal Gabrielle's binky, all documented in pictures!  haha  Carly just kinda sits back and takes it all in.

Callie is my little Mickey and Carly is my little Haley Bug.  We had a great time, and I made a date with Juliane to hit the YMCA for a class she attends every Monday to workout!  :-)  My working out has been an epic fail this week, but I am really going to try to get back into the swing of it this week!!  I fear what the scale will say on weigh day tomorrow.  Looking forward to Carly and Callie's 9 month checkup tomorrow though and seeing how much these BIG GIRLS have grown!

Cleaning, Craigslist and Plaza Azteca!

Today was spent cleaning and organizing for most of the day by both Mike and I.  He is working on getting his garage in order, and I am still working on getting Carly and Callie's room in order!  It's getting there!  I took pictures of all the clothes they have outgrown + all the baby items they have outgrown to list on Craigslist.  We are hoping to make enough money to insulate the attic to further save on our heating and AC bill!  Later in the evening, we took a trip to the Navy exchange for a little shopping and then went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Plaza Azteca, afterward to share mexican skewers!  YUM!  It was just Me, Mike and the babies as Haley and Mickey were hanging with Aunt Tiffany.  :-)  Since we shared a meal, I went ahead and got the JUMBO margarita.  It sure was yummy!  I swear, they must put crack in their salsa.  It is the BEST thing I have ever tasted!  I could just drink it.  I am in heaven with a margarita and their chips and salsa!  Life is good!

It was so cute - while we were sitting at the restaurant, Carly and Callie kept reaching for each other and holding hands!  Oh, how it melted my heart!  ♥  I really think they are going to be the best of friends!

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but it's all I had.  :-)  I just love the weekends!

I am a Bunny

The Richard Scarry Book, "I am a Bunny" is pretty special in our house.  I read it to Mickey every day when she was a baby and when she was just little tiny, a matter of months old, she could point out the bunny on every page!

It was so cute, and now, her little sister Carly is following in her footsteps.  Both girls like to sit and listen to the story (and try to eat the book!) but Carly can point out the bunny on every page just like Mickey did.  It's amazing how their little brains work!

I am just treasuring the little moments today, because I have got some seriously fussy little girls still!  Once I can get one happy, the other is screaming!  And, they are on opposite napping schedules today to boot.  Doesn't look like much is going to get done today either - although, I have already done several loads of laundry, so I guess that counts as productivity!  ;-)

Teething, Teething, Teething

My poor sweet little Callie girl is teething SO bad!  She has been up several times the past few nights, and she always sleeps through the night!  She has been such a fuss bucket today and really wants to be held.  Those teeth are RIGHT there!  She also had a hard time falling asleep tonight, which is VERY unusual for her.  Carly is teething too, but she isn't as bad off as poor little Callie.  Poor little babies - wish getting those teeth wasn't so hard!  I had big plans to work on getting their room picked up and put back together now that we have both cribs put together, but between teething and a very special and exciting project I'm working on with my girl, Carrie, I didn't get much done on the room!  I at least got most of their laundry put away.  I didn't even get in a workout today, which I am pretty bummed about, but oh well.  Back on tomorrow!  Honestly, their room is a more-than-one-day project anyway!  I mean, look ...

I just do what I can do and I won't beat myself up when Im unable to be as productive as I want to be.  I am a mommy first and foremost, afterall!  :-)

Another Gorgeous Day!

Today was another absolutely wonderful day weather wise!  We spent the morning and early afternoon, playing, bathing, cleaning and mommy doing her workout as usual.  Mickey is so cute - she loves her baby sisters SO much!  She is always asking to hold them, even though they are more than half her size now!  LOL

After we picked up Haley from her Wetland Watchers meeting after school, we hit the pavement for another walk!  It was even warmer today than yesterday, but alas, the cold weather will return tomorrow.  Bye Bye 70's, hello 50's!  BOO!  I am so ready for the warm weather to stay, but hey, at least we have heat now!  ;-) So, after our walk we played in the backyard to enjoy the warm weather.  Mickey played on her playset, swung on the new tree swing, jumped on the trampoline with Izzie, picked dandelions and just had a good old time!

Carly and Callie sat on their blanket and enjoyed the sunshine.  They kept trying to work their way off the blanket to explore, but I keept moving them back to the center!  hehe  Carly was really determined to get her hands on the pine shats so she could chew on them!  She even gave her sister a lesson - I can hear her saying, "1.)  Move the blanket out of the way and get your hands on a pine shat.  2.)  See - this is going to be great to chew on!  3.)  Put the pine shat in your mouth!"  hahaha  Callie thought it was hilarious.

They are just so cute and so much fun!  I LOVE this age, even though I absolutely cannot believe they will be 9 months old in a matter of days!  The fear at the thought of having twins all my life now seems so silly because, while they are a lot of work, they are just so much fun, such a blessing!  ♥

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I was able to really get back into the swing of things today!  I cleaned up the house and kitchen in the morning and then in the early afternoon, I did my workout for the first time in over a week!  It felt great, even though I was pretty whooped!  haha  I also took some pictures of Carly and Callie today - they are just getting so big! Here are a few.

And These two are scooting ALL over the place now!  They are both starting to get up on their knees too, but Callie Marie is going to be crawling sooner than later!  She can stay on her knees better than Carly.  Check them out!

And we are deep in the throws of teething - Callie's are just about to pop through and Carly won't be far behind - so we have quite a bit of fussing going on too!  Poor babies!

Later in the afternoon, I loaded Carly and Callie in their stroller and Mickey got her tricycle and we went for a walk!  It was a gorgeous day, and we took advantage.

The babies were just as quiet as could be and enjoyed seeing all the different sights.  Mickey had to stop every so often to pick dandelions and to make wishes on the dead dandelions.  She is so darn cute!

We went one lap around and then Mickey's legs were tired, so we grabbed Haley Bug and she pulled Mickey in the wagon.  ♥

And then Mickey wanted Haley to get in so she could pull her!  She is pretty strong, because she did it!

Then towards the end I pulled them both in the wagon while pushing the stroller!  A little extra workout for mommy!  ;-)  What a great day!  I LOVE MY KIDS!!!!

Oh yeah - I almost forgot to add!  After our walk, I left the babies in the stroller in the garage and went through Mickey's old clothes to get the things Carly and Callie could start wearing!  A fun project for today.  :-)  I found lots of stuff for them, and bagged up 3 trash bags of stuff for Goodwill that doesn't fit them anymore or looked too ragged!  Mickey got to play with the girls next door too, so she was a happy, happy girl!  She was so exhausted after dinner, she begged to go to bed!
